Park Church had a Special Sermon and Fundraiser for Ukraine on December 8th to support DTCare's programs in Ukraine. DTCare – a U.S. 501(c)(3) charity organization and a registered nonprofit in Ukraine – is dedicated to uplifting communities in need worldwide and has played a vital role in bringing art therapy-informed mental health programs and essential humanitarian and medical supplies to Ukraine, including underserved towns near the frontline.
Pastor Todd Allen's sermon emphasized the story of Jesus as a refugee, drawing on the biblical narrative of his family's migration to Egypt, which echoes the challenges faced by many today. DTCare will share updates on their transformative work in Ukraine during the service.
For questions or additional information about the special service, you can contact DTCare at info@dtcare.org

The Sunday School children will sing a few Christmas songs as they depict the nativity story during the worship service on Sunday, December 22. Following the service, we will all gather for a time of refreshments and fellowship in The Gathering Area.
The children will take a break from Sunday School on December 29 and January 5.
The children continue to bring offerings to Sunday School to purchase animals through Presbyterian Assistance. The animals provide food stability and income for those in other countries. Everyone is invited to contribute at the collection area in The Gathering Area.

The Season of Advent allows us to prepare for God’s greatest gift of all: Jesus Christ. For most of us, this amounts to the busiest time of year: Hours spent shopping—cooking—preparing for house guests, all happening with Christmas music in the background.
Christmas carols—along with holiday music—remain one of the cherished traditions of this time of year, but the busyness of this time of year—plus the fact that carols start playing in Walmart and Lowes before Thanksgiving—can cause their remarkable witness to Christ to get tuned out.
Beginning next Sunday, December 1st, you are warmly invited to an new Adult Education Class that will explore the Scripture passages—not to mention Creeds and Confessions-- that undergird many of the carols we sing, come December.
Led by Pastor Todd, this survey will re-open your ears to carols well known—and also introduce carols from around the world that may be new to you. We will sample sacred Christmas music penned by composers both old--and new. And with all of the selected pieces, we will consider how the date, place, and situation of their composition impacts what has come down to us.
NOTE:
The Sunday morning classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Room 206 and end at 10:45 a.m., with Sunday, December 22nd marking the final offering
The course will be repeated on Wednesday afternoons, beginning December 4th starting 1:30 p.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. These longer class sessions will allow all the selections for the course to be explored in THREE sessions, making the final class session Wednesday, December 18th.
All ages welcome!
And (yes) come prepared to sing
“The Chosen” Returns!
“The Chosen”, is a tv series about the life of Jesus and the lives of His followers. Beginning Sunday, January 12th our Adult Education Class will return to viewing, discussing (and, yes, debating) what we will see in Season Four!
We will meet beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Room 206 (a bit earlier than usual to accommodate the running time of the episodes).
A schedule of class dates—and the relevant episodes in the series to be screened and discussed—will be made available beginning Sunday, December 15th. Each episode runs between 50-60 minutes, sometimes more (in which case, it is curated for time) There are eight episodes in all.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
This series is a multi-season enterprise; for the 2023-2024 term we viewed Seasons 1-3. Season Four just ended airing—on cable—in June of 2024. Plans are in place for at least another season of the series, to air sometime late 2025. The series is produced and directed by Dallas Jenkins, a seasoned tv producer/director. Jenkin’s work is supported by the regular input of Bible scholars representing different faith traditions.
“The Chosen is based on the true stories of the gospels of Jesus Christ; some locations and timelines have been combined or condensed. Backstories and some characters or dialogue have been added. However, all biblical and historical content and artistic imagination are designed to support the truth and intention of the Scriptures. Viewers are encouraged to read the gospels.”
- Playdates will not meet in December but will resume in January.

Sermon: “Suffering Amid The Joy”
Scripture: Matthew Chapter 2:1-23 (Progressive Reading)
When the magi has departed, an angle of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. ‘Get up,’ he said, ‘take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. So Joseph got up, took and the child and his mother during the night…”
